Child Seats, Luggage &Family Comfort on Transfer

Quick Answer

The Mercedes Benz V Class accommodates two to three child restraints (infant seats, forward facing seats, or boosters) with full adult seating and generous luggage space. Every vehicle carries a maximum of 7 passengers, so families and groups of 8 or more travel in two vehicles arranged together, departing and arriving together and quoted as one job. All child seat types are available on request, specify ages and needs at booking.

Families booking private transfers in Queensland often have three questions before everything else: Does the vehicle have proper child seats? Can it fit all our luggage? Will we actually be comfortable? This guide answers all three in full.

Child Seat Types, What We Provide

We provide the following child restraint types for family transfer bookings:

  • Rear facing infant seat: For newborns to approximately 12 months (up to 9 kg in most Australian Standards approved seats). Must be positioned in a rear seating row. Cannot be placed in a front seat where an active airbag is present.
  • Forward facing child restraint with harness: For children from approximately 6 months to 4 years (varies by seat model and child dimensions). Secured by seatbelt and internal harness.
  • High back booster seat: For children from approximately 4 to 8 years, or until the child fits a seatbelt without a booster. Secured by vehicle seatbelt over child.
  • Backless booster seat: For older children (7+ years) who still need height assistance for seatbelt positioning.

To configure your booking correctly, provide the age of each child in your booking notes. For children under 12 months, also provide the approximate weight or car seat model name if you have one, as infant seat selection varies significantly by weight range. See our guide to family airport transfers with child seats for the Queensland legislative requirements in full.

The Mercedes Benz V Class, Family Configuration

The V Class is our primary family transfer vehicle. It seats up to 7 passengers in standard configuration (individual captain's chair seating, plus driver). Rear facing infant seats can be installed in the second or third row. Forward facing restraints and booster seats can be installed across all rear rows.

Luggage capacity: The V Class holds up to 5 large suitcases and 5 carry-on bags. With the third row folded forward, luggage capacity increases significantly, suitable for families with oversized items like surfboards, prams, or travel cots. The third row fold forward option works best when the family group is 4 to 5 people rather than a full 7 passenger load.

Families of 8 or More, Two Vehicles Together

Every vehicle in our fleet carries a maximum of 7 passengers. Families of 8 or more travel in two vehicles arranged together, for example a Mercedes-Benz V-Class with a second V-Class or a Mercedes-Benz Executive Vito Tourer, which also seats up to 7. Both vehicles depart and arrive together, the transfer is quoted as one job, and pricing is per vehicle. Smaller families with unusually large luggage requirements (multiple surfboards, large prams, camping gear, multiple checked bag volumes) should list every item at booking so we can confirm the right arrangement.

Child restraints in a two vehicle booking: give the age of each child and tell us who travels in which vehicle, and the right restraint is fitted for every child in the vehicle they ride in before pickup.

The Right Vehicle for Your Family, Book Now

Child seats, luggage space, family comfort. V-Class or Executive Vito Tourer, we configure it before you arrive.

Luggage, What Fits, What Doesn't

The most useful frame for family luggage planning is the V Class limit: up to 5 large suitcases and 5 carry-on bags, with prams and strollers taking up part of that space. Beyond this volume, list the extra items at booking so we can confirm whether a second vehicle is needed.

In practical terms: a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids) with 2 checked bags, 2 carry ons, and a folded pram fits the V Class with room to spare. A family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids) with 3 checked bags, 3 carry ons, a pram, and a stroller should list every item at booking so we can confirm whether it all fits the V Class or a second vehicle is the more comfortable choice.

Wet Gear, Sports Equipment, and Non Standard Items

Families using theme park transfers on a Gold Coast holiday often return with wet towels, wet swimwear, and a bag of damp items from Wet 'n' Wild. None of this creates a vehicle problem, the luggage area handles damp gear without issue. For families with surfboards, boogie boards, or other flat profile items, please mention them at booking so we can assess the most suitable configuration.

ISOFIX and Bringing Your Own Child Seat

All our family transfer vehicles have ISOFIX anchor points in the rear rows. If your family uses a specific branded car seat system (Nuna, Cybex, Britax, Maxi Cosi etc.) with a separate ISOFIX base, bring the base and the infant carrier and our driver will install it before boarding on confirmation from you. This is particularly useful for families who prefer a specific restraint system they know and trust.

For families on a Gold Coast theme park holiday who are also using our Gold Coast theme park transfer service across multiple days, the same child seat configuration applies for every leg, you do not re setup for each park day booking.
