Luggage Tetris: Maximising the V Class

Quick Summary

The Mercedes V Class is the undisputed champion of "Luggage Tetris." It seats up to 7 passengers with 5 large suitcases and 5 carry-on bags. However, for specialized equipment like golf clubs or surfboards, the capacity shifts. Golf bags fit in the van; tell us how many when you book. If you have 7 golfers, the clubs and cases will not fit in one van, so we send two vehicles, such as a V Class and an Executive Vito Tourer, travelling together. Always consult our capacity guide before booking to avoid needing a second taxi at the kerb.

We have all seen it at the airport. A family of five standing next to a standard sedan taxi, trying to figure out where the third suitcase goes.

The driver is scratching his head. The kids are crying. Eventually, someone is sitting with a bag on their lap for an hour.

The "V Class" Advantage

The Mercedes V Class isn't just a van; it's a cavern.

Unlike an SUV where the third row eats the boot space, the V Class has a dedicated cargo area behind the seats. It is deep, wide, and tall.

Common "Load Outs"

Here is what actually fits in the real world:

The Family Holiday

  • 2 Adults + 3 Kids
  • 3 Large Suitcases
  • 2 Carry Ons
  • 1 Double Pram

RESULT: Easy Fit.

The Golf Trip

  • 4 Adults
  • Golf Travel Bags
  • Carry-on Bags

RESULT: Golf bags fit in the van; tell us how many when you book.

The Cruise Transfer

  • 6 Adults
  • 6 Large "Cruise Ship" Trunks
  • 6 Carry Ons

RESULT: Too much for one van (5 large suitcases and 5 carry-on bags). Book two vehicles.

The Surfer

  • 3 Adults
  • 3 Suitcases
  • 2 Surfboard Bags (up to 7ft)

RESULT: Easy (Boards go down the middle).

When to Book a Second Vehicle

If you have 8 passengers, or 7 passengers with golf clubs, one van is not enough. We send two vehicles, such as a V Class and an Executive Vito Tourer, that depart and arrive together.

The second vehicle is key. It keeps each cabin clear for people, while the heavy gear is shared between the two.

Don't Guess. Ask.

If you are unsure, use the "Special Requests" box on our booking form. "We have 4 large hard shell cases and a guitar."

Our dispatch team will review it. If we think you won't fit, we will call you and suggest a van or a second vehicle. We would rather send another car than leave a bag on the kerb.
